Your subconscious is much bigger than your consciousness. Your subconscious holds your memories, beliefs and behavioural patterns, and sometimes these can cause you mental anguish or even make you behave in an inappropriate or unhealthy way. These can cause worry, concern, frustration and unhappiness.
So what happens in hypnotherapy?
Our hypnotherapists will help you to become relaxed and get you to focus on your internal feelings, to the point where sounds around you are unimportant. We will then heighten the relaxation so that your internal focus can become really clear and profound.
It is in this trance state that we will be able to help to tackle, interrupt or clear any unwanted thoughts and behaviours.
We can go into mini trances at any time throughout the day. Watching a film which you are completely engrossed in, listening to your favourite piece of music, reading a gripping novel, listening to an enthralling speaker or even driving a familiar route and arriving only to discover you had almost done the journey with your eyes shut.
Imagine lying on your sofa with a film playing quietly in the background. You close your eyes and after a while feel so relaxed, you are beginning to drift off to sleep but not quite asleep. That’s pretty close to the feeling of hypnosis.
Many clients don’t even know why they feel stressed, anxious or depressed.”
Hypnotherapy is so useful because it works with the part of your mind that holds these deep thoughts and feelings. When we have worked through them and released the negative ones, the feeling of freedom, as if a weight has been lifted from your shoulders, can be quite amazing.
